How we can help you
Our medical negligence team in Bristol help families find out exactly what has happened and why. Where medical professionals are to blame, we work towards obtaining compensation for the effects of those mistakes however serious they may be - for you, for your child and for your family.
If you are concerned about the maternity care and treatment you received, talk it through with us. We will tell you if we think you have a claim and we will help you work through what has happened.
Gillian Clark, Partner and Head of Medical Negligence at Ince in Bristol (formerly Metcalfes) explains more about our birth injury claims in this short video.
Cerebral palsy claims
If your child developed cerebral palsy as a result of medical negligence then we can assist you in bringing a claim.
Some cases of cerebral palsy are triggered by things that happen after birth, such as contracting an infection or meningitis. Cerebral palsy can also occur during labour, where the baby has been starved of oxygen (hypoxia) for too long during delivery and this can be down to medical negligence.
Our Bristol team are experienced in working with families that make cerebral palsy claims and will guide you through the claims process, whilst ensuring the best interests of you and your family are protected.
Frances Wright, our Managing Associate, has been a trustee for Bristol based charity Cerebral Palsy Plus for the last eight years and was appointed Chair of Trustees in 2020.
We see first hand the important work the charity does to help children and adults, families and carers, with cerebral palsy. We’re passionate supporters of their work and believe in helping cerebral palsy clients to live as independently as they wish, living life to the full.
Erb’s palsy claims
We can help you establish what happened and whether erb’s palsy injuries to you or your baby could have been avoided.
We will work with you, alongside experienced medical experts, to investigate the way in which your labour was managed and whether antenatal care failed to identify warning signs about the position or size of your baby.
Where medical mistakes are discovered, we will make sure that your child gets the right erb’s palsy treatment and support, and you and your family gets the compensation needed to move on positively.
