Rebecca is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in the shipping sector. She regularly advises shipowners, P&I Clubs, H&M Insurers and charterers on a range of contentious wet and dry shipping matters and general commercial disputes.

Rebecca advises on a wide range of shipping matters, with a particular focus on charterparty disputes, cargo claims and contracts relating to the supply and carriage of goods by sea. She also has experience of advising on a variety of admiralty matters, including collisions, groundings and general average issues. 

Rebecca has acted for clients in complex and high-value disputes in the English High Court and London arbitration proceedings. Much of her work as a multi-jurisdictional aspect, and she frequently works with lawyers in other jurisdictions, and has experience of co-ordinating multi-jurisdictional proceedings on a client’s behalf.

Highlight Matters

  • Acting for Owners and their insurers (H&M and P&I) in relation to multiple issues arising from the grounding of a laden Capesize vessel, including salvage, General Average and cargo disputes. 
  • Acting for Owners and their P&I insurers after the collision of a large container vessel with a gantry crane in Egypt, which caused the boom of the crane to collapse, puncturing fuel tanks and causing a fire which engulfed the terminal leading to a claim of US$100 million. 
  • Acting for Owners and their P&I insurers in multi-party LMAA arbitration proceedings arising out of a vessel fire, involving substantial claim for unpaid hire and damages and General Average issues. 
  • Acting for Owners and their P&I insurers in Commercial Court and multi-jurisdictional proceedings relating to a charterparty dispute and cargo claim arising out of a grounding, involving issues of wrongful termination, contractual incorporation and conflict of laws. 
  • Acting for Charterers and their P&I insurers in LMAA arbitration proceedings arising out of a dispute under a contract for supply
