Maureen specialises in advising clients in the shipping, international trade and energy sectors on both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Maureen’s shipping practice covers various aspects, including charterparty disputes, carriage of goods by sea and cargo claims, and ship sale and purchase disputes.

She also advises on issues arising from the trading and transportation of commodities, including documentary credits matters.

Maureen also provides non-contentious advice in both the shipping and commodity trading spheres.  Her dispute resolution experience gives her the edge in negotiating and drafting contracts for clients.

Her energy practice includes advising major contractors to energy companies on disputes relating to the construction and employment of offshore assets, as well as negotiating and drafting contracts in these areas.

Maureen also has considerable experience of arbitration in Singapore (SIAC, SCMA and ad hoc), London (LMAA, ICC, UNCITRAL and ad hoc) and Indonesia (BANI), and English and Singapore court litigation.

She is a regular speaker on topics related to maritime law, international dispute resolution, and trade and commodities. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, and has basic knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.

Maureen currently sits on the advisory board of the Centre for Maritime Law, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore.

She previously worked in the firm’s Shanghai office and is fluent in Mandarin.
