Jenny specialises in litigation and dispute resolution. She acts for shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and their respective insurers. Jenny advises clients on a wide variety of shipping disputes and international trade disputes including bills of lading issues, off specification bunkers and the carriage of goods.

She has been involved in international arbitration all over the world including Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as litigation in the London courts including appellate courts.

She has also been involved in a number of insolvency related disputes dealing with a variety of issues including cross-border insolvency regulations, disputes with insurers and claims for and against insolvent companies.

Jenny joined Ince Gordon Dadds in 2020, following the merger with Bentleys Stokes and Lowless, a boutique shipping law firm.

She previously trained with another City law firm, which specialises in Shipping and Maritime law.  Upon qualification, she moved to their Singapore office as a newly qualified solicitor.  She moved back to the UK and joined Bentleys, Stokes and Lowless in 2016.

  • Acting for a large steel trader in a matter involving recovering outstanding monies due under a number of sale contracts with potentially insolvent international buyers in multiple jurisdictions and pursuing claims under insurance policies.
  • Acting for large shipping company in an appeal on the applicability of the Hague Rules and Hague-Visby Rules.
  • Acting for an US based oil shipping company in a LMAA arbitration and subsequent High Court appeal for a claim in damages arising from alleged breaches of charter and balance of account dispute.
  • Acting for Swiss company in the registering of a foreign bankruptcy proceedings and dealing with related claims.
  • Acting for shipowners in LMAA arbitration in respect of a claim for unpaid hire and counterclaim for breach of charterparty and damage to a port crane.
  • Acting for an international crane company in ad hoc arbitration proceedings in Australia in respect of a contract for the hire of a crane, where the owners were claiming for outstanding sums due under the contract and the respondent was bringing a counterclaim alleging that the crane was off specification.
  • Advising owners in relation to claims arising from off specification bunkers and related engine damage.
  • Advising owners in relation to breach of charterparty and bailment claims brought by cargo interests for alleged damage to their cargo while on board the vessel.
  • Acting for charterers in LMAA arbitration proceedings in Hong Kong in respect of their claim against owners arising out of a repudiatory breach of contract.
  • Acting for a Korean company in rehabilitation proceedings, defending an application made by charterers seeking permission to vary a Court Order made pursuant to the cross-border insolvency regulations, in order to allow charterers to commence arbitration proceedings against the Korean company.
  • Secondment as in house counsel to a large salvage company based in Singapore.
