Frances is a dispute resolution specialist, with a focus on dry shipping matters. She advises on large, international, multi-party disputes, representing ship owners, ship management services, charterers, P&I Clubs, insurance firms, manufacturers and traders. Her experience extends to trade & commodities, as well energy and construction disputes.

Frances focuses predominantly on arbitration matters, including under LMAA and LCIA Rules, but also has experience of the High Court. She has run several large-scale disputes and has taken the lead in handling cases day to day.

Her dry shipping practice is broad, including charterparty disputes, cargo claims, shipbuilding, bills of lading and general average matters. Her trade & commodities experience includes representing one of China’s largest trading companies in complex arbitration and High Court proceedings. She has also gained technical knowledge of the shipping and energy industry by working closely with industry experts on several shipbuilding and drilling disputes, often centering on delay and defect claims.

Her work is often very high value and fast paced involving foreign jurisdictions and proceedings. Frances has established good relationships with foreign lawyers and experts, whilst dealing with vessel arrests and cargo operations in other jurisdictions.
