Amelia specialises in advising UK and non-UK domiciled high net worth individuals on wills, inheritance tax and succession planning. She also acts for onshore and offshore trustees in the administration of trusts and estates.

Amelia is known for her expertise in providing solutions to clients with complex, cross-border estates or addressing difficult family dynamics.

She supports her clients to put in place tailored, practical solutions to mitigate the risk of family dispute and balance clients’ desires. This allows her to protect long-term family wealth, whilst giving the younger generation the ability to succeed on their own terms.

Amelia has over six years of post-qualification experience and spends 100% of her time advising on private client matters. She joined the firm in 2011 as a trainee solicitor before qualifying in 2013.

Highlight Matters

  • Advising on a complex intestate estate involving minor children, a number of family trusts and extensive negotiations with HMRC in relation to the deceased’s liabilities under several tax mitigation schemes.
  • Advising non-domiciled HNW clients in relation to their Wills and UK estate planning, and putting in place suitable trust structures to protect assets for vulnerable beneficiaries, having regard to forced heirship regimes of their country of domicile.
  • Advising families where a family member was terminally ill and held strict religious belief about medical treatment, to put in place a Will, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Letter of Wishes to give protection to the family in their decision-making during the family member’s illness and following her death.
  • Providing advice to entrepreneur clients who have recently sold a business and therefore required careful succession planning and wealth structuring advice.

What you may not know about Amelia

Amelia is a keen musician. She particularly enjoys playing the bassoon and singing. Amelia also enjoys sport, having played lacrosse for Wales prior to university, but more recently she has taken up golf, which (anyone who has ever played golf will appreciate) is possibly her greatest challenge to date!
