Tonny is an asset finance lawyer specialising within the aviation sector. He regularly advises prominent Chinese clients on aviation and ship finance matters.

Tonny also has experience in advising on finance leases, pre-delivery financings, sale and leasebacks, and syndicated loans secured by aircraft and ship assets. On the business jet side, he regularly acts for international banks and business jet owners.

Tonny is also a Notary Public.

  • Advised a Chinese aircraft manufacturer on its sale of 30 aircraft to a Hong Kong leasing company
  • Advised a leading Chinese leasing company on the sale and leaseback and pre-delivery financing of five Airbus 350 aircraft and five Airbus 321neo aircraft with a major Korean airline with an aggregate loan amount more than US$250 million.
  • Advised a leading Chinese leasing company on the operating lease of two Boeing 737 aircraft with a major Indian airline.

The Court of First Instance recently handed down a significant judgment relating to asymmetric jurisdiction clause ("AJC") in Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited v Wisdom Top International Limited [2020] HKCFI 322 (the "Case"). It will impact Hong Kong creditor who seeks to enforce a Hong Kong judgment against a defaulting debtor in the Mainland to ensure that the jurisdiction clause is drafted carefully in the future.
