Annabel has extensive experience of advising airlines, their insurers, manufacturers and MRO’s, with a specialism in complex multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes. She advises on product liability and airworthiness, as well as certification issues, air defence technology, enforcement and restraint applications and aircraft repossession/redelivery. Her particular focus is commercial and technical disputes relating to sale, leasing, manufacturing and maintenance contracts.

Annabel’s expertise extends to advising airlines and tour operators on personal injury claims, passengers with reduced mobility and the carriage of minors. She supervises a team of case-handlers on 261 cases for a number of airlines.

She has day-to-day experience of handling a considerable number of major accidents, for example the Air India Express flight 812 at Mangalore, China Airlines flight 642 at Hong Kong and Pan Am 103.

Annabel has particular experience advising carriers in Europe, India and South East Asia, as well as the Caribbean.

My matter highlights

  • Defending an American parts manufacturer in relation to a GA claim where the aircraft suffered a total constructive loss.
  • Advising a high net worth individual who had purchased a part share in a business jet where the aircraft failed to come up to the required standard.
  • Acting for the airline who suffered a total constructive loss of an aircraft as a result of a chemical spillage from incorrectly declared dangerous cargo. This resulted in the largest ever civil award in China by the Beijing Supreme People’s Courts, US$65m.
