International law firm Ince & Co is pleased to announce that it has been named “Maritime Lawyer of the Year” for the second year running at the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2015.

The awards, which were presented at the Armani Hotel Dubai on Wednesday 9th December, rewarded “innovative ideas and concepts that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible” in the maritime industry.

The Maritime Lawyer Award recognised the “very best in the legal profession” and went to the law firm that “offered the best service to the maritime industry over the past 12 months”. Judges were looking for “exemplary expertise and commitment to the shipping industry,” as well as clear examples of “innovation where lawyers have played a crucial role in notable cases, restructuring, dispute resolution or finance”.

Recipients of the awards were chosen from entries from organisations in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent and were adjudicated by a distinguished judging panel made up of prominent members of the industry.

Representative matters over the last 12 months that were highlighted in Ince & Co’s submission included, advising ship-owners, their P&I Club and H&M underwriters in relation to a significant collision in Jebel Ali Port; a Dubai government entity in relation to a US$450 million 10 year time charter party and LNG storage and regasification agreement; ship-owners following an allision with a Saudi Aramco rig in Saudi Arabian waters; and ship-owners (including several based in the UAE) and their P&I Clubs in relation to the collapse and bankruptcy of OW Bunker.

Rania Tandros, Managing Partner of Ince & Co’s Dubai office, commented:

“We are delighted to have been named Maritime Lawyer of The Year for the second year running in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent. It is particularly pleasing that these awards were adjudicated by a judging panel made up of such prominent members of the maritime industry in the region. During my acceptance speech I thanked the wonderful team that we have in Dubai and our loyal clients that continue to turn to us for advice on their most complex mandates in what is an extremely challenging market.”
