LONDON - Professional Support Lawyer (Energy & Infrastructure Group)

Job title: Professional Support Lawyer

Reporting to: Energy & Infrastructure Group Lead Partner 

Based: Aldgate Tower, London

Flexibility: Willing to travel within the UK 

Contract Type: Part Time – 3 - 4 days’ a week

The key purpose of this role is to provide marketing support to the Energy & Infrastructure Group through the provision of expert and sector specific legal and technical advice and support. The ideal candidate would come to the role already having experience and knowledge of the energy sector the Firm’s practice operates in, particularly with regard to upstream, offshore oil and gas and renewable power.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Overseeing and coordinating the production of legal, technical content for regular publications (newsletters, briefings)
  • Researching topics and speakers for client facing events
  • Coordinating the drafting of talks/presentations by fee-earners (client facing)
  • Liaising with Business Development and Marketing (“BD&M”) team and fee earners in preparation and delivery of regular publications
  • Liaising with BD&M team and fee earners in delivery of client facing (in-house) events including hosting
  • Liaising with BD&M team in respect of website materials
  • Supporting and editing production of legal directory submissions
  • Targeting – identification of key clients and contacts for BD & marketing opportunities
  • Liaising with BD&M team and fee earners re Group use of social media
  • Liaising with external organisations and membership bodies to coordinate attendance at industry events and access to legal information
  • Supporting the organisation of in-house presentations by external speakers
  • Induction training to trainees at the start of their E&I seat
  • Some UK, international and/or long haul travel required

Job Role:

  • Qualified to practice as an English solicitor or barrister
  • A familiarity with the energy industry and an understanding of the current issues, needs and concerns of key energy clients, with particular reference to oil and gas exploration and production and renewable power.
  • Drive, enthusiasm and a willingness to take the initiative
  • Interest/experience of using technical content/developments for marketing purposes
  • The aptitude and confidence to introduce and implement new ideas
  • The ability to forge effective working relationships across practice groups and functions
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ingrained commitment to quality
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills and ability to manage a busy workload and reconcile competing demands
  • Reasonable technical/IT skills
