Trainee Revenue and Credit Controller

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious individual who is looking for a challenging new role in a dynamic, expanding company.

No prior experience in a revenue or credit control environment is required, as full training is provided, however an interest in revenue and credit control is essential. The training will involve learning about and assisting with the implementation of revenue management and credit control procedures within a legal organisation and understanding how these practices impact on the wider firm. Contract Type Permanent, Full Time

Hours 9-5.30pm

Role Responsibilities

  • Contacting individual and corporate customers when payment is overdue, under close supervision

  • Updating and maintaining client records as directed

  • Undertake routine credit administration tasks as required by the team

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the fee earners and clients to enable you to support the team in collecting debts

  • Using industry specific software to update debtor records as required

  • Taking payments by card and ensuring that records are accurately processed and updated

  • Provide a comprehensive revenue control service to all Partners and fee earners within the UK offices

  • Regular meetings with Partners virtually and in office, to ensure prompt billing of recorded work in progress and to minimise lockup

  • Assist, where necessary, with ensuring invoices are promptly processed on the Ince bespoke practice management system

  • Issue aged WIP reports and following up, ensuring all potential matters are invoiced

  • Resolve queries and complaints with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Assist the Head of Revenue and Credit Control with system improvements

  • Assist with one-off special projects as required by the Head of Revenue and Credit Control

  • Reconcile accounts and undertake other routine financial tasks as required

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in an office setting is desirable

  • Good level of education with a good level of mathematical ability

  • Comfortable liaising with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority

  • Able to evidence the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload

  • Can evidence use of strong communication skills via telephone and written means

  • Ability and experience in liaising pro-actively with third parties

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines – accurately

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Excellent time management, organisational and administrative skills

  • Team player but self-motivated and able to work autonomously

  • Flexible – willing to travel UK
