Legal Cashier

A full-time and permanent role has arisen within Ince Gordon Dadds Services, part of The Ince Group, providing cashiering support to our Cardiff, Bristol and London based law-firms. The candidate should have at least 1 years’ experience in a cashiering role and be able to demonstrate understanding and application of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.

Reporting to Cashiering Manager

Based Llanmaes, St Fagans, Cardiff, Cardiff

Flexibility Occasional travel to other UK offices

Contract Type Permanent, Full time

Hours 37.5 hours between Monday - Friday

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of the client ledgers;
  • Reviewing and allocating incoming client funds;
  • Undertake daily banking as directed;
  • Ensure that cheques are written on correct amounts and Client Account is never allowed to overdraw;
  • Processing and reconciling professional disbursements;
  • To enter postings onto the accounts system on a daily basis;
  • Inputting client payments and obtaining appropriate authorisation in advance of deadlines;
  • Reviewing bills and entering them onto the accounts system;
  • Dealing with Fee Earners queries;
  • Report on and monitor breaches of the SAR;
  • Ensure that tasks undertaken are processed in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules and internal processes and procedures;
  • Other duties as required by a busy Cashiering department.

Experience: 

  • Understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT and AML regulations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management, organisational and administrative skills
  • Team player but self-motivated and able to work autonomously

Person Specification:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively via all forms of communication
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
  • Works well within a team, providing help where needed and treats others with respect
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience within a legal environment is advantageous
